Rosa Montero

 I decided to look into another Spanish author and writer in today's blog post. Rosa Montero was born in Madrid in 1951 and is currently 74 years old. She is most known for her contemporary fiction. She attended Madrid University's School of Philosophy and Arts and was later admitted into the School of Journalism. She was an active participant in theatre groups while working towards her writing career. She started off as a journalist, working for companies like El País.  She was the first woman to ever receive the "Manuel de Arco" prize for her work as a journalist. She published La Función Delta and a series of her interviews for El País. She also wrote children's books including El Nido de Los Sueños and Bella y Oscura.

Una poema de amor por Pablo Neruda

 Hola! Hoy voy a escribir reflexiones solo en español. Estoy practicando y quiero ser mejor al escribir en español. Ahora, estoy viendo a una poema que se llama "Poema de Amor XXII" por Pablo Neruda. Estudio sobre la vida de Neruda y estos son algunos aspectos relevantes. Pablo Neruda fue el Senator de Chile. Él nació en el año 1904 en Parral, Chile. El fue un político y un poeta. Los dos cosas son muy diferentes, y este es muy interesante. El ganó el "Nobel Prize in Literature" en 1971. Escribió muchos sonetos, entonces era muy dificíl para elegir una para estudiar. Chris Mercer and "Casa Dividida"

 I recently read "Casa Dividida"by Chris Mercer in school, where I learned a lot more about the Cuban Revolution and the conflicts regarding communism. There were two perspectives in the book, one young girl who grows up poor and working tirelessly on a farm and living in a small shack. The other was a boy who came from a wealthy family and lived in a mansion in Havana. Through the Cuban Revolution, the goal was the balance out the severely high wealth gap, and have a more communist society. The changes made in Cuba after the war, like the nationalization of private businesses or better healthcare for the poor  are shown through two different viewpoints, making the book more universal and less biased. This made me wonder about the negative and positive results of the war, and the values that the government prioritized. Liberty and freedom of speech/expression was not a priority.
